What to get
For Parents and Campers
What to get
In our camps, the fun begins even before you arrive! To begin this exciting journey, each child needs to prepare a list of essentials.
Clothes: Please pack comfortable summer clothes such as T-shirts, shorts, jeans, track suit, swimming suit, sandals, running shoes, socks and underwear enough for the two-week stay. You may pack one dressy suit to wear for the end-of-camp party and a set of traditional national clothing (if available). Each camper will receive 2 camp T-shirts and cap upon arrival.
Material: The material to be prepared will require parental aid and should include (if possible) the items listed below: pictures, books, CDs and films (videos tapes, VCDs, DVDs). It's important that campers bring along the requested (available) material, as it will be the focus of discussion and learning during the first few days of the camp.
Pictures: A few weeks before you arrive, we would like you to take pictures of your family members, friends, home, street, neighborhood and favorite parts of your city. Bring these pictures along, and if you have any old pictures (black and white or color) of your family, city or country, please bring them too.
Books: Please bring along three or four of your favorite books (both Arabic and any other language). If possible, bring magazines and comics that you like.
Music: Please collect three or four CDs or tapes of your favorite music (Arab and foreign) and music by someone from your country (old and new) that you like.
Films: Please bring two or three videos, VCDs or DVDs of your favorite films (Arab and foreign) and a film by a director from your country whom you like.
What NOT to pack!
Any valuables, such as jewelry, wrist watches and electronic games are not allowed on our premises Parents need to double-check this particularity before their children leave for the camp. Any valuables found will be kept in the camp's treasury until campers return home. Parents may give their children a maximum of $100 per child for shopping for souvenirs. They will not need more, as everything they would need is available at the campsite. Money has no value at our campsite because there is nothing for sale.
